Wor Flags launch new campaign as they plot 'bigger and better' Newcastle United displays

Newcastle United supporters' group Wor Flags are asking generous Geordies to get behind their new #FundForAPund campaign as they prepare for the 2022/23 campaign. The group, who are fan-funded, put on some incredible pre-match displays at St. James' Park last term, helping to transform the north east stadium into a fortress.

Wor Flags want to create 'bigger, better displays' next season and are asking Newcastle fans to donate what they can in the coming weeks and months. The collective have also created a new website to collect monthly subscriptions and to allow fans to keep up to date with their plans.

The new #FundForAPund campaign means supporters can commit to a monthly payment of £1 to ensure the group can expand and improve their matchday displays.

“We have been repeatedly blown away by the donations we have received from fans," a Wor Flags spokesman told Chronicle Live. "Whenever we have put out a request for funding, it has been more than matched by donations.

"Our displays would not be possible without that generosity. As the new season approaches, we are all aware of the current financial pressures that everyone is facing and that supporting a few flag displays might be far from a priority for many.

"With the #FundForAPund campaign, we were keen to give supporters the option to contribute to displays as cheaply as possible. If we can get even a small fraction of this amazing fanbase to commit to a monthly payment of £1 (via http://Worflags.org.uk), it will set us up for the season.

“Our newly designed logo and website is a statement to fans of our excitement for the new era, not just on the pitch but in the stands too," the group added. "The new website allows us to collect monthly donations, as well as making it easier for fans to manage their donations to us.

"Our blog has been updated with match display reports and next season we aim to bring the fans even closer to our displays with more sneak peaks and insight into how the display was chosen, the reasons behind it and our concepts leading up to the final version.

"This is very much an ongoing project, and we have a lot more to bring to the website in the coming weeks and months to be a hub for all things flags!”

Wor Flags are preparing to return for the opening game of the season against Nottingham Forest and have called on fans for ideas ahead of the Premier League return. You can donate by visiting Worflags.org.uk.
