Wor Flags hint at 'Bruce out display' as pressure grows on Newcastle boss

Prominent Newcastle United Supporters' group Wor Flags have hinted they are preparing a 'Bruce out' banner as the pressure continues to grow on Magpies boss Steve Bruce.

Newcastle put in a dreadful display on Tuesday evening as they handed rock-bottom Sheffield United their first league win of the season.

The Blades' record of 0 wins, two draws and eight goals in their first 17 matches was the worst start made by any side in Premier League history but they dominated Newcastle from start to finish in South Yorkshire.

Newcastle remain near the bottom of the Premier League for almost every attacking metric and the stats are beginning to catch up with Bruce, with his side in the midst of a dreadful run of results.

The Magpies have won just two of their last 12 games and are without a win in their last eight - scoring just once from open play during that time.

United do still hold an eight point gap between themselves and the relegation zone but face Arsenal, Everton, Southampton, Chelsea, Manchester United and Wolves in their next eight matches.

The fear is that points gap could quickly erode and Newcastle could find themselves in serious trouble. For a lot of supporters, the time to change managers would be now and that was evident by a 'Bruce Out' banner being hung outside of St James' Park on Tuesday evening.

Citing that post on Twitter, Wor Flags quoted the tweet and said: "Our turn next," having previously tweeted: "You are not one of us. Do us all a favour and walk away. #BRUCEOUT"

The fans' group were responsible for some brilliant displays inside St James' Park in recent years but they announced a hiatus from making displays when popular former manager Rafa Benitez left the club in the summer of 2019.
