Woolwich stabbing: Man dies after being repeatedly stabbed in south east London

A young man has died after being repeatedly stabbed in south east London in a daylight attack.

The stabbing took place on Tellson Avenue, Woolwich, at 2.40pm on Wednesday.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, suffered a number of stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he died just before 9pm.

Scotland Yard said the knife attack is believed to have taken place "in a garage area outdoors".

In a statement, the force said: "Despite the extensive efforts of medical staff he was pronounced dead at 8.55pm.

"His next of kin are aware. We await formal identification.

"A crimes scene and cordons remain in place

"At this stage there have been no arrests. The Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.

"Enquiries continue."
