Woolwich brawl: Six arrests after knife fight in south-east London

Six people have been arrested in south-east London following a suspected fight between a group of men armed with knives.

Officers were called to the scene in Woolwich at around 3.45pm on Saturday following reports of an altercation.

Emergency services, including armed police, rushed to the area near Duke of Wellington Avenue, where they found a man, in his 20s, suffering a stab wound to the arm.

He remains in hospital where his condition is said to be not life-threatening.

A second man, also in his 20s, suffered minor injuries, Scotland Yard said.

A total of six people were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remain in custody.

A Section 60 stop-and-search is in force in the areas of Woolwich Common and Riverside, Charlton, Glyndon and Peninsula, until 7am on Sunday, while investigations continue.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD5341/27June.
