Woodvale Park attack leaves two vulnerable adults needing hospital treatment

An attack on two vulnerable adults who required hospital treatment after being assaulted in North Belfast has left locals "disgusted".

A woman who uses a mobility scooter and her male companion were attacked in Woodvale Park , by a cyclist on June 6 at approximately 9am.

The man, who was riding a yellow mountain bike, is described as being 6ft tall, in his mid-twenties and of average build with brown eyes.

He was wearing glasses and a brown anorak.

DUP Councillor Nicola Verner told Belfast Live: "I am deeply concerned that a vulnerable person and her friend have been attacked in our local park.

"Everyone should feel safe in the community and I am disgusted that a young man felt the need to be so cruel.

"If anyone with information should contact police and send a message that this behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police would like to speak to a male in relation to an assault on two vulnerable adults, one of which was using a mobility scooter, at Woodvale Park, Belfast on Thursday 6th June at 09:00.

"The male is described as being in his mid-twenties, 6ft tall, average build, brown hair, wearing glasses, a brown anorak and cycling on a yellow mountain bike.

"If you witnessed the incident or know the cyclist please contact Police on 101 quoting Reference 553 off 06/06/2019."
