Woodstock legend and anti-war activist dies aged 84

Woodstock (Event) Joe McDonald

Psychedelic rock legend Joseph Allen “Country Joe” McDonald has died at the age of 84 in Berkeley, California.
He passed away on Saturday, 7 March, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease, as confirmed by his wife, Kathy.
McDonald was best known as the frontman of the 1960s group Country Joe and the Fish, which he co-founded in 1965.
He famously led the anti-Vietnam War protest anthem “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag,” including the iconic “Fish Cheer,” at the 1969 Woodstock festival.
Throughout his career spanning over half a century, McDonald was a prominent social activist, releasing over 40 solo albums and advocating for Vietnam War veterans.
