Woodhead Pass 'likely to be closed for some time' after lorry sheds its load

Woodhead Pass is blocked tonight (Friday) after a lorry shed its load. Pictures from the scene show dozens of what appears to be large sheets of wood scattered across the road, pavement and a field on the outskirts of Glossop.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the road - a major cross-Pennine route between Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The clean-up operation is likely to take 'some time', police said.

"The clean up operation is likely to take some time."
