A man is in a critical condition after a shooting in Woodford Green, North East London, police confirmed.
The victim, in his 40s, was rushed to hospital shortly after 11pm last night.
And another man was injured in a stabbing in Canning Town, East London, at 7.40am today.
No arrests have been made in either incident.
Describing the Woodford Green incident, a Met Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Malvern Drive, Woodford Green, IG8 at 23:10hrs on Thursday, 11 July following reports of a shooting.
"Officers, armed police and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man in his forties suffering from gunshot injuries. He has been taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
"No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue."
And in a statement about the Canning Town stabbing, police said: "Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man – believed aged in his 20s – suffering stab injuries.
"He has been taken to an east London hospital for treatment."
The extent of his injuries are not yet known.
