A woman is fighting for life in hospital today after being hit at close range in a double shooting outside a Caribbean restaurant in north London.
The 46-year-old victim was left with critical injuries and a 31-year-old man was also wounded in the attack outside Sweet Peppa in Wood Green, shortly before 10pm last night.
Witnesses said they heard five shots before two attackers fled the scene on foot.
One told the Standard how the woman “fought for her life” and attempted to disarm one of the gunmen even after being shot.
He said: “A man was holding a pistol, he was a metre away from the woman pointing it at her. I thought it was a fake gun because she was still trying to hold onto him even after the shots.
“She was still standing for five minutes after, before she collapsed on the floor. I couldn’t look after that. The gunmen ran away after.”
Father-of-two Erdogan Guzel was shot and killed outside his baker’s shop, which was next door to last night’s shooting, in 2015.
The latest attack came just over 12 hours after a 33-year-old man was left fighting for his life following a separate shooting in Tottenham at 9.30am yesterday.
A £10,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers today for information over the murder of shop worker Wilson Varela, 24, shot in a case of mistaken identity outside the Fiddler’s Elbow pub in Kentish Town last Sunday.
