A man has died after being shot by police during an “intelligence led operation” in north London.

The unidentified male was shot at around 9am in Bracknell Close, Wood Green, during an armed operation that the Metropolitan police have confirmed was not related to terrorism.

His death was confirmed by police shortly after 10.30am.

The incident was attended by London’s Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service. There were no other injuries.

A witness said residents were only aware of the incident after hearing a helicopter landing in nearby White Hart Lane.

"Then I saw three or four red suited person running out of the park and I followed to the scene,” the individual told the Evening Standard.

"[It was] all cordoned off with tape and a police car."

They claimed the ambulance took off at around 10.15am.

The Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, and inquiries into the incident are on-going.
