'Won't get even three votes': When Salman Khan revealed why he does not contest elections

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan once shared a hilarious reason for staying away from politics and not contesting elections.

During an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, host Kapil Sharma asked the actor why he had never considered joining politics despite his massive popularity.

Responding in his trademark humorous style, Salman admitted that while the idea of contesting elections does cross his mind, he believes he would struggle to win even a small election in his own residential building.

The ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor joked that his own family members may not vote for him if he ever stood for the post of building secretary.

“I do feel like contesting elections a lot. But then I look at my building. We have eight flats there, and three of them belong to our family. Forget Prime Minister, MLA or MP — if I contest for the secretary of my building, I will lose. I won’t even get three votes from my own house,” Salman said on the show.

On the work front, Salman will next be seen in the war drama Maatrubhumi, previously titled “Battle of Galwan”. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film also stars Chitrangada Singh.

The movie is based on the June 15, 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops and will focus on Colonel Santosh Babu and the soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment stationed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Apart from this, Salman also has an untitled project backed by Dil Raju and directed by Vamshi Paidipally in the pipeline.
