Wonho's scandals as he quits MONSTA X - Me Too jokes, owing money and a rumoured prison stint

Wonho has announced he's quit K-pop band MONSTA X after he was caught up in a string of scandals.

The singer, 26, issued a grovelling apology to his fans in a lengthy statement, admitting his "personal issues" and "mistakes" were the reason he was leaving.

Among his most controversial moments were his jokes about the #MeToo movement, rumours that he owed a lot of money to friends and claims that he'd spent time in juvenile detention.

At a fan event earlier this year, his bandmate Minhyuk was recorded holding a microphone to his chest at a fan event, saying: "Mr. Nips, please say something."

Wonho laughed and said: "Me too, me too."

The video resurfaced earlier this month and the band's agency Starship Entertainment issued an apology.

They said: "While we had no intentions to cause any harm at MONSTA X’s fan sign event earlier this year, nor during their time of promotions, we would like to give out our most sincerest apologies to everyone and all the fans who felt uncomfortable by the behavior and comments that left room for misunderstanding.

"Starship and MONSTA X recognize the issues that were brought up and have since continuously discussed the matter.

"In the future, Starship and MONSTA X will make greater efforts to listen to suggestion made by fans and society to overcame the areas in which we lack."

Korean reality TV star Jung Da Eun accused Wonho of owing her 30 million won (£20,000), which he denies.

Jung Da Eun posted a photo of him on TV, writing: "Hoseok, exactly when are you going to pay me back? Kekeke.

"Whenever I find out his number, he avoids me."

Starship Entertainment denied the allegation, saying: "It is not true, and we are looking into the possibility of taking legal action."

Han Seo Hee also accused him of spending time in juvenile detention, tweeting: "I know what you did in 2008. Suwon Detention Center on special charges.

"I haven't even started. Doesn't being in a juvenile detention center make you a convict?

"You guys live your own lives now. This isn't Jung Da Eun but Han Seo Hee."
