Wonderfully weird Hendrick's Gin newsstand is open on Princes Street this weekend only

You might notice an odd-looking newsstand on Princes Street this weekend, which isn't selling the usual newspapers.

Hendrick's Gin have opened an unusual pop-up bar in front of New Register House, next to the Duke of Wellington statue.

The sign above it reads "Unusual Times" - and the ticketed event certainly delivers on that.

You'll find a chap called Vincent outside, and once you help him a simple task things will start to get wonderfully weird.

Stepping through a portal, you'll be lured into a multisensory experience which takes you to the clouds above Edinburgh. This heavenly scene is made complete by a fountain of gin.

Hendrick's Gin say: "With negative news everywhere we look nowadays, we could be forgiven for thinking our wondrous world is all doom and gloom. Our feeds muddled with all manner of mundanities and suspiciously skewed stories.

"The unusualists at Hendrick’s Gin invite you to ignore the headlines and indulge in a more unconventional type of journalism.

"Approaching the Newsstand, you’ll find Vincent, a man who only deals in the most peculiar publications and an altogether more bizarre broadsheet.

"Having helped him with a small, but important errand, you’ll enter an extraordinary multisensory world.

"Here, you’ll sample the delectable taste of Hendrick’s Gin, a most peculiar libation that’s oddly infused with rose and cucumber."

You can find out more on the pop-up here.

If you're in the mood for more interesting drinking experiences will be kicking off next month.
