'Wonderful moment' - Chris Hughton's verdict on Nottingham Forest's draw at Millwall

A "wonderful moment" from Alex Mighten secured a valuable point for Nottingham Forest at Millwall.

Boss Chris Hughton was pleased with the response from his players, after they had fallen behind early on in the second half at The Den.

But just two minutes after Tom Bradshaw had opened the scoring for the hosts, Mighten latched on to a long ball from Loic Mbe Soh to net his first senior goal for the club.

It earned the visitors a 1-1 draw, building on their victory over Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.

"He'll remember that. We needed it, as well," Hughton said of Mighten's goal.

"I thought it was a fabulous goal.

"I thought he had been fairly quiet in the game before that - because of the type of game it was and because Millwall had marked him tightly. He wasn't really able to get into the spaces where he could be one against one.

"But what he did give us, is the type of runs we know he can do.

"He'd gone from a quiet game, and maybe not being quite so productive, to that one moment.

"He'd sensed an opportunity from the long ball.

"It's good to have players who are prepared to run behind.

"It was a wonderful moment for him."

After a miserable seven-match winless run, the Reds are unbeaten in two ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Birmingham City.

Up against a physical Lions side, the visitors coped with the challenge well.

"We were up against a very direct team and we had to work hard for the point," Hughton said.

"I was most delighted with the reaction to conceding a poor goal.

"It was important we got back into the game as quickly as we could, and we were able to do that.

"For morale and for lifting the players, it's perfect.

"We knew it was going to be a battle and we would be up against a physical, direct team. You've got to be able to cope with that and then, once the game opens up a bit, get your opportunities.

"I just thought in the periods when it did open up and we had good possession in midfield, we didn't make the most of it.

"But it was a good defensive team effort."
