Diana is about to be reunited with her true love - or is she?
The epic, colourful, and 80s-tastic trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 was finally released yesterday (December 8) and gave us a first real look at the upcoming DC Comics film sequel.
Director Patty Jenkins is back to helm the 1980s-set tale which sees Diana sharing scenes with new friend Dr Barbara Ann Minerva ( Kristen Wiig ) discussing love before we see her reunited with one true love Steve Trevor ( Chris Pine ), who supposedly died at the conclusion of the first film set during the First World War.
How is he back? Regardless of the means, the pair seem to be having fun and working together side by side once again. Could he be the real deal?
Meanwhie, Minerva stumbles across some ancient artifacts and gains new Cheetah-like abilities, while the villainous businessman Maxwell Lord (Narcos star Pedro Pascal) says in a TV commercial: "Welcome to the future! Life is good, but it could be better. And why not? All you have to do is want it! Think about having everything you've always wanted."
What is his dastardly plan?
To cap it all off, fans were delighted to see Diana in some brand new armour and looking fierce.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Omggggggg!!! That Wonder Woman 1984 trailer. Yall see it. U should lol. Heck yeah!! I definitely can't wait!! Love Gal and great WW!! It's awesome!!!!!"
Another said: "I haven’t been able to get that 1984 #wonderwoman armour off my mind"
Meanwhile, another praised the trailer, saying: "Hot damn that Wonder Woman 1984 trailer is fantastic. Looks like the most confidently comic-book-y movie modern DC has ever done. The costumes. The colors. That image of WW swinging from lighting with the whip. Seems like Jenkins is coming to play."
One fan wrote: |I am liking the new costumes for Wonder Woman in the new 2020 movie Wonder Woman 1984, they were a bit darkened in the others, now they go back to brighter colours, brighter red and blue. Also liking the new golden eagle costume, now that is cool."
Finally, one shared their feelings, saying: "EPIC Trailer for Wonder Woman 1984! The lighting, the action, Diana swinging on a lightning bolt, her final costume at the end, AND THE FREAKIN' MUSIC! 2020 GET HERE QUICK! #WonderWoman1984 #WW84 @DCComics "
The film also features Connie Nielsen reprising her role as Diana's mother Queen Hippolyta, and Robin Wright in flashbacks as her Amazonian aunt Antiope.
One thing is for sure, it will be an epic affair.
Wonder Woman 1984 is released in UK cinemas on June 5, 2020.
