Won’t back off from charges raised against mins: Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai

TRICHY: BJP state president K Annamalai has said that he will not be cowed down by the cases filed against him. He was speaking after attending an event in Thanjavur where members of actor Rajinikanth’s fans club joined the BJP on Wednesday. “We are not going back on the accusation made against DMK ministers, instead we will go one step further,” he added.

On the contract not given to Aavin, Annamalai said the health minister was not a technician, but a politician. “He did not know the technicality involved in it. He should first apologize to the people for diverting people’s attention from the issue,” he further stated. “PL Health Mix has taken the contract in a monopolistic way. But why was the contract not given to Aavin Health Mix. Ministers Nasser and M Subramaniam have been giving contradictory statements. It is their duty to clear doubts in this regard,” he said.

On the minister’s threat to file a case against him, Annamalai said a number of lawsuits have been filed against him. “The minister of power has sued me for Rs 10 crore yesterday. So far, about Rs 620 crore worth cases have been filed against me in the state. No matter who sues or threatens us, the BJP will not back down from what it does,” he stated.

Thanjavur district president of Rajini fans club ‘Rajini’ Ganesh presided over the event. Club functionaries V Balachander Viswanathan from Coimbatore, S P Shanmugadevan from Perambalur, S K Sakthivel from Virudhunagar, D Muruganantham from Thiruvarur and secretaries of 14 unions in Thanjavur district joined the BJP in Annamalai’s presence.
