‘Won’t allow Javed Akhtar’s films to be screened until he apologises for his statements comparing Taliban and RSS’ says BJP MLA Ram Kadam

Lyricist and film writer Javed Akhtar has been making headlines for his recent statements. During an interview with a news port, he said that the Taliban are barbaric, their actions are reprehensible, but those supporting the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are all the same.

Soon after this, Akhtar’s remarks have not gone down well with the right-wing party. In a recent video on Twitter, the BJP MLA Ram Kadam retaliated to the film writer saying that the country is being governed by the Sangh Parivar. He said, “If Taliban’s ideology existed here, could he have made such statements? The answer to this question shows how hollow his ( Javed Akhtar’s) remarks are.”

He reportedly further added, “Until he apologises to the members of the Sangh with folded hands, we won’t allow any of his films to be screened in the land of Ma Bharti.”

Earlier, on Saturday the BJP’s youth wing and several of them were spotted protesting outside his Juhu residence. “RRS helps everyone in time of need and he has compared them to the Taliban. He must apologise. It is very condemnable that despite being a very sensible person, Javed Akhtar has given such a statement,” said several protestors outside the ‘Sholay’ writer's house.

According to reports, Javed Akhtar has also stated that India is a secular nation, the population is largely secular but that there are those who support organisations like the RSS and VHP and have the same ideology that of the Nazis of the 1930s.
