Women are being urged to check their bags after a night out after one woman made a frightening discovery when she got home.
Sheridan Ellis says she found the unexpected object in her bag after going out to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Sheridan was going through her bag as she arrived home and found a tile key fob - the kind you can use to track objects with your phone if you lose them.
Sheridan says the tile wasn't hers and she has no idea where it came from - she quickly pulled the battery to kill the tracking signal, reports The Mirror.
Sheridan shared her story in a video on TikTok, hoping it might help keep others safe on nights out.
Her clip has been watched more than 722,000 times.
In the video, she said: "This weekend on Saturday I went to dinner with a group of friends for this girl's birthday, if you know me I don't normally carry a purse, but on Saturday I did because we had decorations and stuff for the table.
"At the end of the night, I'm cleaning my purse out and I find this - if you don't know what this is, it's a tile. It's basically a tracker, people put it on their keys and whatnot.
"It's not mine, I don't know how it got in my purse.
"I immediately took the battery out, don't worry but yeah... check your purses and stay safe out there."
More than 134,000 liked her post. One said: "OMG! I have pre/teen girls. Thanks for putting this out there. But seriously, how many more things do we have to be aware of?!"
Another wrote: "This is so scary!! Please go to the police. There might be someone out there that didn't clean out their purse and find it..."
Someone else suggested the tile could have belonged to another member of the birthday party, but Sheridan confirmed she had checked and it did not come from any of her pals.
A few also pointed out that the Bluetooth signal was unlikely to have tracked her if the phone it was paired with wasn't in range.
But this did little to reassure people, with a different user adding: "Ignore the people saying don't worry. Even if it didn't work, the fact that someone tried it very scary. I'd see if there are cameras."
