Women swear by a £1 item everyone has in their kitchen to stop greasy hair

Everyone has their own hair-washing schedule. Whether it’s once a week or every morning, it can end up being a laborious part of your routine - especially for those with super long or super thick hair.

But it has to be done, as there’s nothing worse than having greasy hair when you head out for the day, and no time to wash it. But it turns out, there might be another option for those desperate moments.

For those who don’t fancy splashing cash on fancy dry shampoo (or can’t stick the smell of it), there’s a new trick on the market which has sent the internet into a frenzy - and it won’t cost you a penny, as you most likely have it sitting in your kitchen already.

The 18-year-old dancer swore by the money-saving trick (Hannah Christie / TikTok / The Mirror)

TikToker Hannah Christie, 18, revealed her number one trick for avoiding greasy hair., the Mirror reports. Known as @hanzochristie on TikTok, she posted a video of her using none other than washing up liquid on her hair, which quickly amassed over 520,000 views.

In the video, Hannah said: "Washing your hair with Fairy Liquid ONCE A MONTH strips your hair of oils and decreases how quick your hair goes greasy after washing!!! " if you're like me (a dancer) and every comp your hair is covered in hairspray doing this after a competition takes the hairspray out."

She was careful to point out that the trick should only be used once a month, as it can strip hair of its natural oils. But commenters couldn’t quite believe it would work. One said: “Girl… I’m speechless."

Another wrote: "I’m going to have to give this a go, I have to wash my hair every day because it gets greasy so this might be the answer for me.” Hannah then replied: "Try it at your own risk. Some have mixed opinions. This is what has worked best for me."

"Yes!”, another said. “If you do this once a month ish depending on your hair type and then do a hair mask the day after it literally helps ur hair so much."
