Women's World Cup 2019: Lucy Bronze makes England silverware vow

Women's Champions League winner Lucy Bronze is hungry to claim more silverware with England at this summer's World Cup.

Bronze's Lyon side secured their fourth successive Champions League crown with a 4-1 victory over Barcelona last weekend.

And she is hoping for further success when Phil Neville's England head to France, looking to build on their third-place finish at the last World Cup in 2015.

Bronze told Sky Sports: "The goal is for the gold. The goal is to make the final. I don't see why we can't make it. I would say I'm still on a high from a successful club domestic year and I want to carry that on and keep winning trophies.

"We've got a really talented bunch of young players. I think my age group was the hard-working age group and now we've got this group of players who are really confident, they've got the ability, they're ready for a World Cup - they're not scared of anything.

"They all play for top teams, they've won trophies already. We've got a really good group of players but the young ones are definitely going to be some of the ones making the difference for us next month."

Bronze speaks to the media ahead of a training session at St Georges Park (Matthew Lewis)

Meanwhile, the faces of two of the players feature in an advertising campaign that sees their faces plastered over 16million bottles of Lucozade.

The campaign is in partnership with Conic Sport - who specialise in creating goods for girls and women in sport - and Lucozade Sport.

The special edition bottles will feature England Lionesses defender and captain Steph Houghton OBE and forward Nikita Parris, and will be released over the summer coinciding with tournament.

“I’m delighted to feature on Lucozade Sport bottles this summer,” Houghton said.

“It’s a drink I’ve used in preparation for and after matches for a long time.

“It’s great that they are investing and supporting the women’s game at different levels and it’s an exciting time to be part of women’s football.”
