Women's National League clash between Wexford Youths and Galway postponed due to Covid-19 fears

Wexford Youths' Women's National League clash with Galway has been postponed due to Covid-19 concerns.

The decision was made after a Wexford player was found to have been in close contact to somebody who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Wexford's U17s game against Cork City has also been postponed as a result.

The club said in a statement: "Wexford Youths Women regret to announce that both our senior and under 17 matches this weekend have been postponed.

"A club player was found to have been a close contact of somebody who has tested positive for Covid-19, and the club has therefore decided to call off both Wexford Youths Women vs. Galway WFC on Saturday night, and Wexford Youths WU17 vs. Cork City on Sunday as a precautionary measure.

"This decision was taken in conjunction with the FAI."

It comes after Peamount United's game against DLR Waves was postponed on Wednesday due to a suspected Covid-19 case within the Waves squad.

A test has since came back negative and Waves's clash with Treaty United on Saturday has been given the green light to go ahead.
