Actress Yami Gautam is currently riding high on the success of her recently released film ‘A Thursday’. She has impressed the audience by playing an intense and strong character like Naina in the film. ETimes got in touch with the woman of the moment and chatted about women empowerment, her thoughts on International Women's Day 2022 and more.
When asked what would be the one thing she would change about the world for women, Yami said, “To really start with, there's nothing more than an honour to any woman, to any person, anybody who's walking on this planet. I feel a great deal of privilege also, being a woman, I feel very empowered when I hear certain conversations. Forget anything else, when I hear stories… I am very traditional, as much as I have a modern bent of mind, but even when I go back to my traditions and our text, you hear such great stories about our goddesses, fighting so many battles and demons, and to even till today, so many women out there who are championing the cause, be it cause for our safety, for more opportunities, for education, and so many things.”
Yami further says that a woman’s honour and dignity should never be compromised. “I feel that the honour, integrity and dignity that we associate women with should never be compromised. That should never be at stake, that needs to always be upheld, like the progress of family, the progress of societies. I feel it's marked by the progress of women in that family. So that's how I put it,” the actress asserts.
Meanwhile, Yami will be seen doing diverse roles as she has multiple films in the pipeline. She will be seen in ‘OMG 2’ with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, ‘Lost’, and ‘Dasvi’ with Abhishek Bachchan. She also has an unannounced project in her kitty.
