Women’s Ashes 2019: England opener Tammy Beaumont fired up by 14-match winning streak

England Women begin their Ashes campaign at Leicester on Tuesday on a winning streak of 14 matches that opener Tammy Beaumont is desperate to keep up.

The multi-format series in Australia in 2017-18 was drawn, but Australia retained the Ashes having won here in 2015.

It is more than five years since world champions England last won the Ashes. The series will again be contested over all three formats, with the first of three ODIs tomorrow, then a Test at Taunton, before three T20s at the end of July.

England enter the series in fine form after wins over West Indies, Sri Lanka and India this year.

“We feel in a good place,” said Beaumont. “We’ve won 14 in a row and we want to keep that going. We’ve got a very talented bunch of players and hopefully we can show that tomorrow. Obviously there’s a lot of hype and noise around the Ashes but it just you even more focused.”
