Women on the run after WA prison escape

WA Police are searching for three female prisoners who escaped from a minimum security facility. (AAP)

Three women have escaped from a minimum security prison in Perth's southeastern suburbs, prompting a police search.

Authorities say the women absconded from the Boronia Pre-Release Centre for Women in Bentley around 12.30pm on Thursday.

The prisoners, all aged in their 30s and identified by WA Police as Karleigha Kickett, Janita Little and Rickeisha Collard, are believed to have been heading towards Jarrah Rd in Bentley.

"They may act in an unpredictable manner and the public are advised not to approach if sighted," WA Police said in a statement.

The Boronia facility houses female prisoners who are nearing the end of their custodial sentences.
