A project to mentor 400 school girls set up by the Women of the World Foundation (WOW) has been selected for fund-matching.

The WOW foundation will launch the project to coincide with the International Day of the Girl in October 2022, and fund-matching platform the Big Give will match all donations received.

Set up by by theatre director and producer Jude Kelly CBE in 2018, the WOW foundation is a charity promoting gender equality through festivals, events, and school programmes. The Duchess of Cornwall is President of the foundation.

A spokesperson from WOW said: “As recognised by the UN, girls are routinely confronted by gender injustice. Girls tell us that this impacts on how they see themselves, how their relationships play out and what opportunities they think are open to them for their futures.

“The funding will enable WOW to provide a transformative moment of connection for 400 school girls, building confidence, connection, celebrating their personal and collective power and crucially building the determination and optimism to demand a better world and a better future for girls everywhere.”
