Three women were left covered in blood and a man was stabbed in the neck in a mass street brawl, witnesses say.
Four people have been arrested after the violence near a red-light district in Holbeck, Leeds, where a road was cordoned off.
Armed police and paramedics rushed to Pleasant Terrace, just after 11.30 today, following reports of a “disturbance between multiple people”.
Officers said about six people were involved.
Witnesses reported seeing “three women covered in blood”, according to Leeds Live.
One told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he saw a “mass brawl” in the street, with one man lying in the street bleeding.
He said: “I saw the man get stabbed three times- in the back, the chest and the neck.”
Witness Zoltanj Esze added: “I’ve not seen anything like it before, it was unbelievable.
“My two kids, who are five and six, were shocked and crying.
“I then saw the guy lying on the floor bleeding and then the police came.”
A man injured in the fighting was taken to hospital, where his condition was described as serious but stable.
A pool of blood was left visible in the street after the attack.
Police arrested three women and a man on suspicion of affray, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Posting on social media, one user said: "Stabbing across the road from us, angry burly men in the garden and only half way through [the] day in Holbeck."
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire force said: "Police have arrested four people following a stabbing incident at an address in Leeds.
"Enquiries remain ongoing.”
