Teen charged with woman's stabbing murder in Bundaberg

Police were called to a disturbance at Kepnock shortly before 9:00am on Friday.

Queensland police have charged a 16-year-old boy over the murder of a woman in Bundaberg.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a home in Kepnock Road about 9:00am on Friday and found a 36-year-old woman with serious stab wounds.

She died at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in Bundaberg Children's Court on Monday.

Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford said the woman and her 16-year-old son were the only residents of the address, and the only ones home at the time.

The woman's mother called triple-0 after arriving at the house shortly after the incident for a pre-arranged visit to go shopping.

Detective Inspector Pettiford said there had been a limited response to earlier calls for information.

"We'd really like anyone in the vicinity between 7:00am and 9:00am on Friday to contact police if they saw anything unusual," he said.

"If they have dashcam on their car, if they could contact police so they can have a look at it.

"On either Monday or Tuesday we will be conducting a traffic operation as a reminder to people when they are dropping of their children at school and it might trigger something with them to stop and talk to police."

He said the investigation was ongoing. with forensic officers still at the crime scene on Sunday.
