Women burglarized Wheaton homes, vehicles, stole charity donation box: police

Two women were arrested for numerous burglaries of vehicles, homes and a donation box on Friday in Wheaton.

Two Wheaton women are accused burglarizing vehicles, homes and a donation box in the western suburb.

Madeline Clifford, 25, is charged with burglarizing several vehicles in the 600 and 700 blocks of White Birch Lane, according to Wheaton police. She is also accused of stealing donation box for the Children’s Miracle Network from a Circle K convenience store.

Kathleen Lewandowski, 24, is charged with three counts of burglary and one count of residential burglary, according to DuPage County records. Lewandowski allegedly burglarized a home in the 100 block of Hawkins Circle and several vehicles in the 600 and 700 blocks of White Birch Lane along with Clifford, police said.

The women were arrested Friday after detectives identified them on video surveillance, police said.

Lewandowski was held on a $1,000 bail, according to county records. Court information for Clifford was not available.

This year in Wheaton, people have reported 21 vehicle burglaries and 10 home burglaries, police said.
