Woman wounded in Far South Side Shooting

A woman was shot early Tuesday morning in East Chatham on the Far South Side.

The woman, 22, was outside around 2:40 a.m. in the 900 block of East 82nd Street when she was shot in the torso, police said.

The victim took herself to the University of Chicago Medical Center and was listed in critical condition, police said. Her name has not yet been released.

No one was in custody. Area Two detectives are investigating.

About three hours earlier, a man was shot while walking to his car on the Far South Side.

Around 11:40 p.m., the man, 24, was in the 12100 block of South La Salle Street when another man approached and shot the victim in the torso, Chicago police said.

The man was driven by an acquaintance to Roseland Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
