Woman with serious injuries rushed to hospital after M74 Larkhall accident amid Storm Ciara

A woman has been taken to hospital after a serious road traffic accident on the M74 at Larkhall.

The road was closed around 9am after a road crash between two vehicles and a lorry.

A man was taken to hospital as a precaution and a woman is being treated for serious injuries.

Despite now being reopened, queues are backing up to as far back as Lanark and delays of an hour-and-a-half can be expected.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: “#M74 northbound after J8 – road now REOPEN – both lanes running. Queues back to J10 with delays approach 90 mins. This will take a while to ease #ExpectDelays.”

Police Scotland said: “Around 9.05am police were called to a report of a crash between a lorry and two cars on the M74 at Junction 7. Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A man has been taken to hospital as a precaution. Diversions are in place.”
