Woman with Elon Musk's old phone number keeps getting texts and calls meant for him

A 25-year-old skin care consultant who was unknowingly assigned Tesla CEO Elon Musk's old phone number by AT&T keeps getting texts and calls every day meant for him.

Lyndsay Tucker, from San Jose, California, was given the billionaire's old number while she was at university.

Within days, she started receiving a stream of messages and calls from people all over the world trying to reach the tech entrepreneur.

The 25-year-old, who works at a Sephora store, told NPR: "I asked my mom, ‘Hey, I keep getting these text messages’ — and I was also now starting to get phone calls — ‘for this guy Elon Musk. I don’t know who this is.'

“And my mom’s jaw just dropped.”

The text messages sent to her have reportedly been on a wide range of topics, from bionic limbs to questions about job openings at Tesla, according to screenshots seen by NPR.

One text addressed directly to “Elon” asked “how I can purchase that ATV you showed off during the CyberTruck reveal.”

Lyndsay replied: “Sorry buddy this isn’t Elon Musk’s number and isn’t in any way affiliated with him.”

And it's not only random people that have popped up on her phone.

The skin care consultant says she's had high-profile names like former Disney Animation executive John Lasseter reaching out to say the Tesla he bought was a “magnificent car”.

When approached by NPR about this, Mr Musk responded “wow, that number is so old! I’m surprised it’s still out there somewhere.”

Lyndsay said she doesn’t plan on changing the number, though her patience in responding to the messages varies from day to day.

She said: “Sometimes I don’t respond if I’m having a rough day. So if you didn’t get a response, it’s probably me, not him. Don’t feel too let down.”
