Woman with £11,000 a year fast food habit loses six stone in lockdown

A 24-year-old woman who grew to 18stone after spending £30 a day on fast food and takeaways has lost nearly six stone after deciding to turn her life around in lockdown.

Poppy Stainsby, 24, was spending £10,950 a year on fast food and pizza, which left her struggling to fit size 20 clothes.

Poppy told the Star: “I’ve transformed my lifestyle. I cook myself nice meals like salmon and rice, and exercise.

“I used to get sore feet and get out of breath from just going shopping. Now I go on long walks and bike rides.”

Poppy decided to start losing weight at the start of the year after suffering back pain. The lockdown meanyt she was able to work out at home twice a day and take a walk in the evenings after working from home.

Instead of commuting she taught herself to cook healthy food from recipe books.

She now cooks her own meals rather than reaching for the takeaways and deliveries of fast food, burgers and pizzas.

“I would have a takeaway every day and food was my comfort but now I’m eating the good stuff - like loads of fruit and veg.

“I feel like the best version of myself.”
