Woman who vanished from Hyde Park four months ago 'found safe and well'

A woman from north London who disappeared almost four months ago has been found “safe and well”.

Portia Vincent-Kirby, from Finchley, appeared to have “fallen off the earth” after spending the evening with friends in Hyde Park on February 21.

The 33-year-old, who once ran to be an MP, was spotted unexpectedly in the Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel on March 14, but had not been seen since.

She was reported missing to Met Police a day earlier and had reportedly not used her passport, mobile phone or bank cards since March 3.

A spokesperson for Met Police has confirmed Ms Vincent-Kirby has been found “safe and well”.

“We are pleased to report that Portia has been found safe and well. We thank the media for their assistance,” they said.

Met Police released CCTV images from the pub last week, which left her mother Janina Vincent worried for her safety. She said her flat had been abandoned with no clues as to where she could be.

She previously told Metro she believed Ms Vincent-Kirby had bumped into a family friend at the pub.

“He didn’t know she was missing at the time, and he hasn’t seen her for around 10 years. But he said she was sat there on her own, with no drinks or anything,” Ms Vincent told the the newspaper.

Ms Vincent went on to say that the old family friend bought her daughter two drinks and they spoke for around an hour before parting ways.

“After that, the trail goes cold as CCTV cameras outside were either broken or the footage had been wiped,” she added.

Ms Vincent-Kirby is from Medway in Kent originally and has strong links in the area. She has been living on her own in London for nearly four years.

Police had been working on a theory that Ms Vincent-Kirby may have been in Kent where she had been brought up.

At the time of her disappearance, her younger brother Max told Kent Online that her family have been left “clutching at straws as people do not just disappear”.

The 31-year-old father added: “We just want her to get in contact with us or contact a friend.

“There is no suggestion as to what has happened with her - we have no idea.

"It's like she has fallen off the earth."

Ms Vincent-Kirby had previously stood for the Green Party to try to become an MP in Hendon in the 2019 UK election.

She had also worked in public relations for award-winning law firm Hudson McKenzie and previously volunteered as a researcher working for the United Nations in New York, according to her LinkedIn profile.
