Woman who tragically died in Edinburgh Arthur's Seat fall thought to be on honeymoon

A woman who tragically passed away after falling from Arthur’s Seat had allegedly thought she may have been pregnant and celebrated her wedding reception with loved ones just days before the incident.

Fawziyah Javed is understood to have been on her honeymoon when she was involved in the fatal ‘suspicious’ fall at around 9pm on Thursday, according to the Daily Record.

Police and emergency crews raced to the scene at the Capital's Holyrood Park but the 31-year-old tragically could not be saved.

A source told the newspaper how the young woman, who worked at Lyons Davidson Solicitors in Leeds, was believed to have celebrated her wedding reception in West Yorkshire on Sunday before travelling to Scotland by train at the start of the week - noting she may also have been pregnant at the time of the tragedy.

Uniformed officers from West Yorkshire Police are understood to have been searching a property in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, on Friday afternoon, which is believed to be connected to the fall.

Police Scotland earlier confirmed that a 27-year-old man has been arrested as part of their enquiries.

A force spokesperson said: “We received a report that a woman had fallen from Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, around 9pm on Thursday, 2 September.

"Emergency services attended including the fire service and ambulance.

"The 31-year-old woman died at the scene a short time later and her death is being treated as suspicious.

"A 27-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
