Woman who started saving as a teenager with £3-per-hour job buys own home at 21

A woman managed to buy her first home at just 21-years-old - after she started saving when she was just 16 and earned £3 per hour.

Becca Thompson, @beccathompsonn, was a hardworking teenager and instead of spending her earnings partying with her friends she put most of it away for the future.

At 16 she was earning just £3 per hour, and because of how well she saved she had enough money to put down a deposit to buy her first house.

Now she's shared her top saving tips with her followers on TikTok so that they can save money too.

What do you think about Becca's saving skills? Let us know in the comments

Taking to TikTok, she said: "Started saving money from my £3 an hour job at 16.

"Finally bought my first home at 21."

The TikTok star said that she bought a two-bed house in Tyne and Wear for £86,000 - describing it as a "really good deal".

She continued: "Started off by every time I spent money I’d put the same amount in my savings account.

"If I couldn’t afford to buy something twice I wouldn’t buy it.

"More recently when I became serious about buying I was putting around £800 away each month."

Another user said: "Brilliant, good for you girl. You’re gonna go places."

While another said: "Wow that’s amazing!!"

And a third commented: "This gives me hope. Well done!"
