A woman who allegedly shouted “shame on you” at people taking part in Pride has been charged with a homophobic hate crime.

Jamila Choudhury, 38, from Walthamstow, east London, is accused of haranguing participants as they passed her during the march on July 27.

Footage posted on social media showed a woman wearing a black niqab repeatedly shouting "shame on you" at participants as they moved along Hoe Street, Walthamstow, one of whom was wearing a rainbow LGBT flag.

In the video the woman could be heard shouting: "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

"Shame on you, shame on all of you. Shame on you, you despicable people. Shame on you, you shameless people."

Choudhury was charged with a homophobic hate crime public order offence on September 5.

She has been bailed and is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Thursday, October 3.
