A woman caught with a petrol bomb in her Hamilton home has avoided a prison sentence.
Police found the crude device when they spoke to Kimberly Whitelaw about threats she'd made to a former friend.
Whitelaw, 34, of Douglas Crescent, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
She admitted a course of aggressive conduct towards her victim between March 27 and 29 this year.
Whitelaw also admitted an offence under the Explosive Substances Act in relation to her possession of a petrol bomb.
The court heard she loitered near the other woman's home, sent her photos of a knife and a fuel can, and warned in a phone call she would blow up her home.
Neil Thomson, prosecuting, said the woman received a number of abusive messages via social media over a three-day period.
These included a reference to her being taken to Bent Cemetery.
Mr Thomson told the court: "This was reported to the police and officers went to Whitelaw's home on March 29.
"There was a strong smell of petrol and they found Whitelaw in the kitchen. There was also a glass bottle containing petrol that had a piece of cloth inserted in the neck."
Whitelaw, who admitted previous convictions, was the subject of four separate bail orders at the time.
Defence agent Jackson Bateman said calls had been made to his client and she "overreacted".
She admitted possession of the petrol bomb, but claimed it had been brought to her home by another person.
Whitelaw was placed on an 18-month drug treatment and testing order.
Sheriff Thomas Millar told her: "You will appreciate how serious these offences are, but background reports suggest a DTTO will be of benefit to you."
