Woman who made racist and homophobic remarks at Wishaw hospital warned to stay out of trouble

A woman who launched a tirade of abuse inside University Hospital Wishaw has been given a chance to show she can stay out of trouble.

Sandra Dennie appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week for sentencing having already admitted her guilt.

On June 28 last year, at the hospital and whilst enroute to Motherwell Police Office, Dennie repeatedly shouted, swore and made offensive, racist and homphobic remarks before struggling with police.

Dennie, formerly of Carluke but now of Charles Street, Royston, then made threats of violence, uttered sexual remarks and refused to desist when asked to do so.

On the same date, Dennie assaulted a male police officer while at the hospital by spitting at him and trying to kick him on the body.

Dennie was also convicted of spitting at a second officer but was cleared of struggling with and trying to strike a police woman.

Sentence had been deferred for reports but Sheriff Linda Nicolson opted to continue the case until July 14 with more reports being called for.
