A woman was arrested after she allegedly licked her hands and touched food items at a supermarket.
Shenir Gibson Holliday was also tested for coronavirus after CCTV footage captured her licking her hands and coughing before pulling on freezer doors and touching items.
She reportedly did the same on dry food at an IGA store in North Carolina, US.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at the supermarket on Saturday, before she was located in the car park.
Shenir, 38, from Sumter, was charged with aggravated breach of peace and food tampering and was issued a citation for violation of the state home or work order.
She remains in custody at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Officer have set a $100,000 bond and ordered a Covid-19 test.
A post on the police department's Facebook page read : "Holliday was taken into custody [on] Saturday by Sumter Police Department officers who responded to suspicious person call at the IGA on Pinewood Road.
"After locating the woman in the parking lot, officers were able to identify her and determine she matched the description of the suspect in a hand-licking incident in the county."
She was also is charged by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office for a similar incident at the Sub Station II on Peach Orchard Road.
It is alleged that she licked coins before putting them into a tip jar and then running away.
North Carolina has reported 11,848 coronavirus cases so far and 430 deaths.
Last month, state governor Roy Cooper extended a stay at home order until May 8, but was hopeful North Carolina could soon enter its first phase of easing restrictions.
The first phase would see bars and restaurants remaining closed and mass gatherings banned, but parks and some businesses would reopen.
On Monday, Cooper was expected to sign a $1.5 billion package to address the coronavirus pandemic, providing funds for research, testing and tracing of the virus, as well programs for schools and purchases of personal protective equipment.
The package includes $85 million for five universities to help research the virus, $50 million for buying personal protective equipment and $25 million to fund expanding testing and tracing.
Around $150 million will be spent to further education with new computers and school nutrition programs.
The bill will also delay car inspections and license renewals until August.
