Woman who ignored driving ban gets disqualified for further four years

A Hamilton woman who ignored a driving ban has been disqualified for a further four years.

Nicole Barr, 27, of Hillside Crescent, was also put under supervision for two years at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

Sheriff Colin Dunipace also imposed a three-month electronic tagging order that bans her from leaving home between 7pm and 7am each day.

Barr was supposed to be serving a three-year ban when she committed the latest offences.

She was disqualified in January last year for driving while under the influence with a child passenger in her vehicle.

Defence agent Andy Iles said Barr has struggled with substance misuse, but pointed out she has not been in trouble since pleading guilty to the latest charges in October.

Sheriff Dunipace told Barr: “I’m just prepared to step back from imposing a custodial sentence.

“The path you’re on is likely to lead to custody.

“It’s a matter for you. You must take advantage of the resources that are being offered.”
