A woman who accidentally fell asleep with her front door wide open was later surprised to learn she'd captured the kindness of a good samaritan on her doorbell camera.
Ashley Chaney hadn't realised she'd forgotten to shut the door when she drifted off and awoke to see some unexpected door cam footage.
According to Ashley, a thoughtful stranger walked right up to her house and softly shut the door at around 3 am, gently explaining to the camera exactly what he was doing, before wishing her a "lovely night".
Sharing the touching footage to TikTok, Ashely, who lives in Los Angeles, wrote: "I love humans. And when security camera footage documents the best of them!"
In the video, which has clocked up 1.7 million likes and counting, Ashley - who goes by the username @iamashleychaney, explained: "I've been stressed recently, and accidentally went to sleep with my front door open. Listen to this sweet stranger close it for me at 3 am."
The heartwarming clip shows the sweet passerby offering a friendly wave before very calmly shutting the door, telling the camera: "I'm closing your door. You guys have a lovely night. Good morning".
Many of Ashley's followers were greatly touched by the kind-hearted act, praising the unknown man as a "Guardian Angel" and an "angel of a man" who had helped to restore their "faith in humanity".
One admiring person commented: "He just put your freaking house to sleep, and so calmly too."
Another applauded: "So kind. And the fact that he whispered was just so adorable!"
A third individual remarked: "Things like this restore my faith in society. These people don't realise they are the literal glue holding the world together with their kindness."
A fourth approved: "I hope this man has all the good things in life".
