Woman who drove while twice the alcohol limit failed to turn up at court

A boozed-up motorist who got behind the wheel while more than twice the drink-drive limit has failed to appear in court to face the music for her actions.

Kerry McCluskey, from Coatbridge, drove “without due care or attention and without consideration for others” on Blair Road, near Blairhill train station, on September 2 last year.

Her car collided with a pedestrian banner and, when police officers attended the scene, she was found to have 122 milligrammes of alcohol in her blood; the legal limit being 50.

McCluskey, of Morar Crescent, was arrested and later entered a guilty plea during an appearance at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

Criminal justice social work reports examining her background were then ordered, with McCluskey due to be sentenced earlier this month.

However, the 36-year-old was a no-show in the dock and her defence solicitor asked for a further deferral ahead of sentencing.

Presiding sheriff, Derek O’Carroll, granted the request and continued deliberation until May 1 for McCluskey’s “personal appearance”.
