Woman who died in crash off A37 named by coroner as inquest opens

A woman who was killed in a crash earlier this month has been named by the coroner.

Emma Summerell, from Midsomer Norton, was involved in a two vehicle crash on the B3139 near the Emborough Lakes.

The collision took place at around 8.30am on April 5.

She was trapped in her vehicle and died shortly after being released, police officers told Bristol Live.

An inquest has now been opened and adjourned for further statements and reports to be obtained, Somerset Live reports.

At the time of the crash, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We were called to reports of a two car collision on the B3139 near to the Emborough Lakes shortly after 8.30am.

"One of the vehicles was in a hedge and the occupant trapped.

"She was released from the vehicle and given treatment at the scene but sadly died shortly afterwards.

"The occupant of the other vehicle – a man – does not appear to have been injured.
