An inflatable boat passenger who died after a collision with a water bike in north Wales has been named by police.

Jane Walker, 52, from the Staffordshire area, was taken to hospital after she was taken ashore and treated by ambulance crew.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the Menai Strait at about 7.30pm on Saturday, which is thought to have taken place between the slipway at Menai Bridge, Anglesey, and the pier in Bangor.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Kearney said: "Following Mrs Walker's death, North Wales Police has commenced an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events leading up to this collision.

"The coroner for North West Wales, Mr Dewi Pritchard Jones, has been informed, and we are continuing to liaise with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) into the circumstances of this collision.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mrs Walker at this time."

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Wales Police quoting ref Y114906.
