Woman who appeared on BBC show The Scheme jailed for theft and bank card fraud in Prestwick and Ayr

A woman who appeared on BBC documentary The Scheme has been jailed for 18 months after admitting theft and bank card fraud.

Kerry Tomlin, 37, committed the crimes in Prestwick and Ayr in March and April 2020.

Tomlin stole a handbag which included bank cards and a quantity of money in Briarhill Court, Prestwick.

She then used a card owned by another woman at a Sainsbury’s to buy £30 worth of goods by committing fraud.

Tomlin finally admitted breaking into a house on Elba Street, Ayr, and stole “handbags, purses cosmetics and other items.”

Tomlin pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to theft, fraud, housebreaking while on bail from Ayr Sheriff Court.

The offences took place 10 years after Tomlin appeared on the popular TV show which followed the lives of families in a Kilmarnock housing scheme.

Sheriff Paul Crozier said: “A custodial sentence is the only appropriate disposal due to the nature of the offence.”
