A woman who allegedly forged documents to become a nanny has been charged with child stealing.
The 31-year-old woman was arrested by Bendigo Sexual Offences and Child Abuse detectives and charged on Friday with two counts of child stealing and stating a false name.
She was found with two girls, aged four and 10 months, in Pall Mall about 1:30pm.
It is alleged the woman forged documents to be employed as an au pair.
Detectives also charged her with handling stolen goods after she was allegedly found with a passport and drivers licence in July, which was stolen from a Brighton East woman last year.
The woman had no fixed address and was remanded in custody to appear in Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The children were returned uninjured to their parents.
The investigation remains ongoing.
