Woman wearing gym gear 'humiliated' as supermarket security asks her to 'cover up'

A woman claims she was told to 'cover up' by a supermarket security guard because she wore gym gear to the store.

Sports coach Amandine Gaudin was shopping in Carrefour Etampes when she was "humiliated" by a security guard after a customer complained about her outfit.

In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Amandine said: "I was doing my shopping quietly at Carrefour Etampes when the security manager came to see me...to warn me not to come back dressed like this.

"It was too bare for their taste," she later added.

Her post included a picture of her posing in front of the store in a bright blue crop top and leggings.

Speaking to BFM, she said: "I was coming home from work and I decided to go shopping in preparation for my birthday.

"I was wearing sportswear, because of where I work.

"On this occasion I was wearing leggings and a sky blue sports bra.

"A manager then comes to see me and tells me that the next time, that I come to do my shopping in this store, it will be necessary that I wear another outfit, that I will have to cover myself more ".

Amandine finished her shopping and asked to see the manager when she got to the till.

An employee then told her that her outfit was "too bare for their taste" and she would have to wear a T-shirt before going to to the store the next time.

She continued: "I have been shopping there for years and often wore that outfit without any problems."

"According to the manager it was a customer who saw me in the aisles that complained.

"I'm angry, it's unfair to be criticised on my outfit right after work.

"Does it mean that I'm in indecent dress at work if I'm to go by these criticisms?"

Amandine said she contacted head office who apologised but says he won't be shopping there any more.
