Woman 'was three times drink drive limit' as car ends up on roof in housing estate

A woman has been arrested after a three-car collision in a busy housing development.

Officers say they were called to the scene in Maghera on Monday evening, April 27 and found a vehicle on its roof with the driver being helped out by witnesses.

After suspecting the driver was 'heavily intoxicated' she was arrested and later blew a reading of 125mg, the legal limit in breath is 35.

A PSNI Cookstown spokesperson explained: "Monday evening just past and we get called to the report of a three vehicle collision in Maghera. We find a vehicle on its roof with the driver having to be helped out by witnesses.

"The driver was suspected to be heavily intoxicated. Following arrest she later blew a reading of 125 mg in custody - the legal limit in breath is 35. She awaits a court date.

"Needless to say it was extremely fortunate no one was injured in this incident. This was a built up area with young children playing close by. You can only imagine what could have happened."
