Woman urged 'look for a new job now' after opening 'unreasonable' email from boss

A woman has been left asking if she has been unreasonable for being upset after her boss emailed her while she was on annual leave.

Taking to Mumsnet's AIBU (Am I Being Unreasonable) forum, the woman explained that her boss forwarded her an email complaining about something that had gone wrong at work with the message 'this has really p***ed me off'.

The contact left the woman upset at the disruption to her annual leave - and took to the website to ask for opinions on who is in the wrong in this situation.

She penned: "Forward of another email re something which has gone wrong whilst I’ve been on annual leave

"Then her email to me 'this has REALLY P***ED ME OFF - very disappointed'.

"That old annual leave anxiety is back in full force - thats unreasonable isn’t it? The email?".

She added in a follow up post: "I wasn’t responsible for the thing which went wrong but my team are so therefore I am.

"I know I shouldn’t be checking emails but my stomach is in knots most of the time if I don’t."

Hundreds flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the matter with some even urging her to leave her job.

One wrote: "Work shouldn't make you feel like that. I'd be looking for a new job ASAP. Remember, when someone treats you badly it is a reflection on them, NOT you. I'm so sorry you've been made to feel this way."

Another added: "Don't delete that email whatever you do. I'd be taking it to HR if it were me. I had some awful experiences with ex-bosses and it's the reason I went self employed. The amount of people who get into senior positions despite being rude, unprofessional bullies absolutely baffles me."

"I wouldn't go back from leave if my manager spoke to me like that. There are ways to handle staff mistakes. This is not a good one," agreed one user.

"Find another job. If you are so stressed from this job that you can't relax during time off then it's time to move on. Life is too short for this s***," pointed out another.
