Woman unable to walk or talk from Covid begs pals from her hospital bed to get vaccine

A woman who can't walk or talk due to the severity of her Covid-19 infection told friends from her hospital bed to "take the damn shot" by scribbling it on a piece of paper.

Charlotte Broussard, of Lafayette, New Orleans is unable to speak or walk, but made sure she was heard from her hospital bed in the intensive care unit in Baton Rouge General Hospital on Tuesday.

The 72-year-old signalled for nurses to fetch a pen and paper so she could jot something down.

She wrote two messages. The first said: "SEND TO FRIENDS F***".

The second urgent scrawl read: "TAKE THE DAM [sic] SHOT".

Both messages have been circulating on social media since yesterday.

Baton Rouge General, who said the elderly patient "wanted to get a message to her friends and we promised to help her do that", reports The Advocate.

The woman's strongly worded request comes shortly after a famous conservative radio host and vaccine skeptic lost his life to the virus.

The death of Phil Valentine was announced by the Tennessee station where he worked at the weekend.

The 61-year-old was diagnosed with the virus in July, and posted on Facebook : "Doing my patriotic duty for natural herd immunity."

He also quipped that he might take a day off work "as a precaution".

Mr Valentine repeatedly questioned the importance of getting vaccinated on his show, and claimed in December that his odds of dying from the virus were "probably way less than one percent".

He even went as far as performing a track he penned called Vaxman, an adaption of Beatles' song Taxman - singing: “Let me tell you how it will be, and I don’t care if you agree.
